Social media tools make informal learning more accessible by creating a common environment for learners in the virtual world. People are motivated to participate, collaborate and solve problems when community space and inter-group communications are available.

In this session we'll discuss strategies that address
where, when and how to use different types of social media to improve, enhance and extend the learning experience.

Participants in the discussion can expect to leave with:
  • An understanding of different social media tools used in various organizations (participants are invited to share)
  • Strategies for using YouTube and Instagram to motivate learners
  • Insights into using Storify and Yammer for community building and collaboration around learning events
  • The ability to use Twitter* and LinkedIn Groups to extend the learning experience
