So what’s your reply to the question “What do you do for a living?” The answer lies in the 21st century Workplace Learning & Performance model from National ASTD. Whether you are new to our profession, or well established, understanding the range of opportunities available in today’s Workplace Learning & Performance (WLP) industry is the first step toward grabbing them.

The New ASTD Competency model describes the breadth and depth of our profession. Join ASTD Golden Gate members and Model co-author Dr. William Rothwell as we dive into the new model and what it means for you.

What you will learn:

If you are new to the profession:

This is the source for understanding the multiple entry points and competencies (skills) needed for the 21st century WLP Professional.

If you are well established:

Learn what a well-rounded WLP professional needs to know to remain competitive in tomorrow’s world of workplace learning.

If you are transitioning:

Use this opportunity to assess your current strengths and discover new growth opportunities and what you need to do to develop them.

  • Hear from Dr Rothwell, a member of the team that created the first ASTD Competency Model and updated it this year. Learn what went into it and why these areas of expertise and foundational competencies were chosen.
  • 10 Local experts, one in each of the Areas of Expertise, will host tables to facilitate discussions to:
    • Further define the competency of their expertise
    • Answer your questions about the area
    • Provide resources for further growth and
  • You will have an opportunity to sit with several of the table hosts in a ‘speed networking’ type format
And - there will be a drawing for an ipad mini from our sponsor, Udemy!
