Take an inside look at training in the healthcare industry. You will get an overview of the different types of audiences within a healthcare organization and how training is applied to these audiences. You will learn about the unique relationship between training and information services and see how that impacts technology training. You will learn how different training modalities (ILT, VT, One on One, and E-learning) are applied within the Sutter Health system.

This is a great opportunity for Trainers, Training Managers, Instructional Designers, and other Training and Development professionals to gain cross industry experience and exposure.

Ali Myers,
RN, MSN, NE-BC – Ali is the Director of Education at Santa Rosa regional Hospital. She was inspired to become nurse after 10 years of working with at risk youth suffering from psychological issues. After obtaining her nursing degree in 2006, she went right into ICU where she developed a specialty in cardiovascular critical care, and became cross trained as a Nursing Supervisor. Ali is currently the Education Director at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, where she is responsible for initial and annual competencies for 1000+ employees, and provides education support to each of the committees and departments in the facility. Ali is also chair of the Sutter Health Education Leaders (SHEL) committee, which supports enterprise wide policy, process, or new equipment implementation.

Michael Lemereis,
EHR Trainer 2 – recently changed careers after over 25 years in Food Service Management. He always enjoyed the teaching and coaching part of his job the best. In 2014 he received a full scholarship and returned back to school to earn a Master of Education degree with a focus on Adult Education and Training.

Michael currently works for Sutter Health as trainer. His main focus is providing support and training for the VT training program. He trains MD's, RN's and other staff on how to use the electronic health record (eHR) system. He also teaches Excel, NEO’s and Learning Café's.

Lee Cretin
– Supervisor, Applications Team, IS Education - is the training supervisor with Sutter Health Information Systems. His primary customer is Sutter Care at Home, the Home Health and Hospice agency affiliated with Sutter Health. His team provides new hire technical training for general systems and the specialized mobile technology that the clinicians use to view and maintain the records of the patients they visit.  Prior to training, he provided hardware and software support to Home Health and Hospice offices in Santa Rosa, San Mateo, and Emeryville for the first implementation of an electronic heath record system. Before working in Health Care, he served in roles as system administrator, technical analyst, database programmer, business analyst in a number of industries: wholesale and retail lumber, construction, wine, non-profits, and software development. He is married, a proud father and grandfather, and has lived in Santa Rosa for 29 years.

Connie Chow– Supervisor, Applications Team, Information Services Connie is Training Supervisor on the Learning & Transformation team overseeing the onboard EHR training of Sutter Health employees. Prior to this role, she progressed from being an Epic Optime/Anesthesia Consultant joining Sutter Health in 2013, to West Bay Team Lead in 2014, to Bay Area Application Team Supervisor – Training & Provisioning in 2016, and finally L&T Training Supervisor in 2017. As a result of organizational restructure, she has built a network of trustworthy, hard-working individuals throughout the Bay Area. Prior to Sutter, she spent 7 years working in the Epic Training and Analyst space at Providence Health & Services, Stanford Health Care, Cedars Sinai Medical Center/Cedars Sinai Medical Group, and Kaiser Permanente. She also spent 5 years as a public sector educator. Her journey has been interesting and fun where I had opportunities to see different perspectives from each organization and role.
