Negotiation skills are the foundation for developing confidence, creative solutions, measurable results, and long-term relationships. This is a critical skill, not just for a sales team, but also in personal and work life to increase communication and collaboration.

In Six Steps to Successful Negotiations, facilitator Ching Valdezco will lead us through an interactive workshop, help us create a plan for an upcoming negotiation that we’re preparing for and use that scenario to help us learn and apply the six steps to a successful negotiation.

We tend to think of negotiation as a competition. Yet lasting success requires a different approach. It demands we move beyond competing—to cooperating and even collaborating. br>
This program introduces business professionals to a process and skills that build confidence, creative solutions, measurable results and long-term relationships.

Workshop Objectives

  • Learn practical techniques we can immediately apply to our interactions
  • Understand the six stages of negotiation
  • Identify valuable “currencies” that we can exchange to influence the terms of a negotiation
  • Adjust our approach so we can collaborate and be flexible while getting what we need
  • Organize a strategy before, during and after a negotiation

Ching Valdezco helps professionals present, communicate, and influence more effectively.  She has a long-standing career working in global companies, which started in the Philippines. Fifteen years and three countries later, Ching decided to make a career transition and delved into the training world, where she is doing leadership development for Exec-Comm, a global training company. She was honored as one of Silicon Valley Business Journal’s Women of Influence in 2016.

Ching was raised to believe that there is nothing that she can’t do. This was not always easy outside of her home due to stereotypes coming in the way. As a petite Filipina woman, Ching had to work hard in developing a bigger voice and a bigger presence to stand out. She also had to overcome her fear of public speaking.

Ching started her career at Procter & Gamble, and holds a degree in Computer Science. She has lived in three countries and managed teams across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband; they enjoy hiking in nearby state parks and traveling around the world.
