The ATD Career Discovery Group is excited to be hosting its second event on the topic of training. Learn about types of training, industry  differences, and participate in interactive scenario practice. Come out to meet other people with similar interests. Space is limited!

A panel from different industries involved in the training field will share insights into the realities of the field. An interactive scenario portion with participants will follow. Due to time constraints at the venue, we will have networking/chat time prior to the event. There will be light food and drinks for those attending the event.

7:40-7:45: Clean Up; Library closes.

The mission of the Career Discovery Group is to provide a quarterly opportunity to learn more about different roles in the field of learning and talent development. These small, interactive meetings give the opportunity for participants to closely network and ask questions of experts in the field, so sign up now!


PANELISTS:

Jeff Dyer has worked for 9 years as a junior high teacher for the Diocese of Oakland. As a teacher, he taught English, math, history, science, PE, computers, and drama. While teaching he was a member, and eventually the chair of the Diocese of Oakland Technology Committee and the webmaster for the Technology coordinator website for the diocese.

After earning a Master’s of Instructional Technology from St Joseph’s University, Jeff began working for the Mosaic Company as a consultant at PG&E for two years. During this time he worked on multiple training videos and WBTs, In addition, he was part of a small team that addressed major training overhaul.

For the last 7 months Jeff has worked as a Senior ID for PG&E in the Enterprise Systems department developing and teaching Software and Hardware trainings.

Meagan Porter is currently a Manager of Career Development at Genentech, Inc. She focuses on supporting internal career growth and employee satisfaction through several career development services at the company’s Career Lab, including 1:1 career consultations, stand up training, virtual webinars, various assessments, formal and informal mentoring, and a variety of events.

Meagan finds true joy in supporting others to find personal value and meaning with their careers. She has built her own career on the philosophy that making an impact starts with following your passion. Meagan is a Certified Career and Integral Life Coach, holds a Master's degree in Teaching and Learning, and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She is also certified in Myers Briggs Type Indicator and holds accreditations in Cross-cultural Language & Academic Development as well as E-Learning Development Curriculum & Design.
