Training delivery is changing to meet the needs of the new workforce. Using virtual, 3D, avatar-based training provides an engaging and exciting environment where anything is possible.

Learn what training in a virtual world is all about; get a real understanding of what is possible and how you can create experiential, interactive, interpersonal virtual learning experiences?

Join us for an in-depth, day-long session on how to use 3D worlds to create online training that keeps people fully engaged!

Explore, with your colleagues, ways to enhance online learning outcomes by utilizing effective learn/apply practices that can only be done in today’s distributed organizations through the use of 3D training.

Virtual worlds, like all emerging technologies, have been filled with potential and promises that many—who need to get performance improvement and workforce engagement results—have been waiting to experience. Well the wait is over!

Join your ATD Golden Gate Chapter colleagues, Bruce Gross and Carla Kincaid-Yoshikawa as they lead the full-day training session.

They will work you through the basics of moving into the virtual world to teach basic competencies for using 3D environments for training and collaboration.

Prior to the training, you will need to create your own InWorldz
(free) avatar and download and install the (free) InWorldz 3D Viewer on your own laptops.

(Go to http://inworldz.com/register/, register for and select your avatar, then download and install the latest InWorldz Viewer for your operating system.)

You will need to bring your laptop to the training in order to access the 3D environment.

Bruce and Carla will start the day with a quick overview of ways the 3D environment is currently being used in face-to-face training, for more dynamic webinars and for avatar-based 3D immersion programs. They will cover the basics of moving through and communicating in a 3D world, while exploring some of the InWorld training they’ve created. And you will spend most of the day learning how to create your own objects and activities for InWorld learning that is simple and inexpensive to create—yet provides highly effective synchronous and asynchronous online learning processes.

You will bring your own current curricula—whether used in face-to-face training, self-paced e-learning or webinars—into the 3D environment, through the creation of simple but effective virtual tools.

You will learn:
  • the most important foundational skills for creating your own inworld learning programs
  • how to create simple objects, upload and set up slideshow presentations
  • how to utilize online whiteboards and YouTube videos as part of the 3D learning experience.
  • how to tailor the appearance of your avatar to meet your  preferences.
We will also explore ways to set up simulations, engage in
interactive discussions, work in breakout groups and create collaborative and competitive processes that enhance learning and retention.

Who should attend:
Anyone who wants to learn how they can make virtual training work better as part of their professional ecosystem and create online training that is interpersonal, experiential, engaging and memorable!

Pre-work:
1. Download and install InWorldz 2.x and create your own (free) avatar (http://www.inworldz.com/ ) This follows a standard, automated download process, as outlined above. If you have any questions or need additional information, contact Carla at Carla@Traininginthe21stCentury.com.

2. Select and bring a short Powerpoint presentation or segment of curriculum you will use as the basis for what you create in the virtual environment.

CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED TO 20 INDIVIDUALS, so sign up now!!

PRESENTERS:
Carla Kincaid-Yoshikawa is the founder of Training in the 21st Century™. She specializes in blended learning programs and enjoys working collaboratively with her  clients to create new and transform existing curricula to fit their specific needs and goals. Her work includes instructional design, development and presentation using a wide range of formats, including face-to-face (ILT) processes; e-learning software (Articulate - Studio and Storyline, and Adobe Captivate); and the most promising forum for virtual training: 3D environments.

Carla has worked in Organization Development and Training for over 15 years, in team building, leadership development, strategic planning, change management and train-the-trainer processes with private, public and non-profit organizations of all sizes.

Bruce Gross  has been working at WORLDPAC in the HR department since July 2001. He joined the WORLDPAC University team in March of 2008, continuing his monthly training sessions while expanding his responsibilities to include administering WORLDPAC's Learning Management System (LMS), generating compliance reporting, and assisting with the organization and facilitation of the Business Leadership Program (BLP) and Advanced Leadership Program (ALP) and created the Emerging Leadership Program (ELP).

In 2012 Bruce completed the Certificate in Virtual Words from the University of Washington. Over the past 3 years he has been building and using 3D environments as part of WORLDPAC’s training delivery technologies. He completed the Leadership Program Pilot Test with 12 Teammates and it was a huge success. He also uses the 3D Environment for webinar’s finding them more engaging and effective than “death by Power Point” or other web meeting/training platforms.

Recently Bruce has been investigating the application of Udemy, the ASTD GGC Learning Partner, to effectively deliver and manage leadership training performance support events. Bruce joined the ASTDGG Chapter in July 2010 and after attending the Instructional Design Class
joined the COP and volunteered to be the Outreach Manager. He now is a co-chair of the 3D SIG.

He’s has been the VP of Membership for ATDGG for the past 3 years.

In 2014 Bruce and Carla introduced 3D training at his company by putting on a Proof of Concept that went over so well that now in 2015, Bruce uses nothing but 3D training for Webinars, in world trainings with others with avatars and he uses 3D in his face to face trainings.
