Have you been wondering how to break into eLearning? Get a hands-on introduction to an eLearning marketplace you can use to share your expertise when Udemy comes to the South Bay. Sign up for the session ahead of time and get your own Udemy account to practice with.

Would you like to engage with more learners? Maybe expand your instructional reach to a wider audience? eLearning can be intimidating if you have never developed anything online. In this BYOD event, we will take away the mystery and give you the experience you need to decide if you are ready to enter this fast growing learning and development area.

ASTD Golden Gate has partnered with Udemy, a San Francisco based eLearning marketplace, to offer you the chance to explore how to use a capability like this to expand your audience. Several ASTD Golden Gate members have already developed content on Udemy with the potential for making their content available to more than 3 million students worldwide.

We will give you the opportunity to play with this tool for yourself.

Bring your own computer and some course material you would like to convert to eLearning; fellow chapter members with Udemy experience will be there to help you. If you register by July 22nd, we will set up a Udemy account for you.

This is not a “show and tell” event but rather a “describe and do” event.

To get the most out of participating please bring a laptop and some material that you would include in your online course. Material can be:
  • Power Point slides
  • Video or audio clips (self-made)
  • Non-copyrighted media (video or audio)
  • PDF’s used as handouts or job aid
If you do not have a laptop we hope to have a few available to borrow or you may share with someone else.


This event will be facilitated by Chapter Members who have used this tool to create online learning. They all have experience with the Udemy Course Creation Tool and will guide you through:
  • Uses for Udemy through the chapter portal
  • Preparing to design an online course
  • Using Course Creation Tools


Udemy accounts for this event are a Chapter Member benefit as part of our partnership with Udemy. Everyone requesting an individual Udemy account by July 22nd will receive one. All accounts will be established through the Chapter Udemy portal.

Chapter member accounts will remain active as long as your membership remains active. Nonmember accounts will remain active for no longer than 30 days following the event.
